This years submission follows on from last year’s photo bomb continuing the opportunity to explore our fascination for what is shiny and glitters. However I reflect that this allure has become an environmental hazard due to the obsession we have to use microplastics.
Sequins made originally from glass or metal are today predominately a non-biodegradable co-polymer plastic and being small, difficult to recycle, the reflective sequin along with successive glittery micro plastics find there way sequentially into the food chain as an appealing potential food item.
